Say Bonjour To The French Capital

Whether it is the silver screen, fashion magazines or novels, Paris is always perceived as the trendiest, most romantic and generally the coolest place to be. What draws flocks of tourists to it? The list includes: fine French cuisine; fashion; historical sites and also the beautiful French language. Step onboard a ferry from Dover to Calais and head to the capital that makes us go ooh la la.

Being a city with something for everyone, it is hard choosing where to start your city breaks Europe trip. Start the trip with a traditional pain au chocolat followed by a black coffee. One of the best things about France is knowing you’ll be guaranteed excellent food from any bakery.

A Romantic Oklahoma Bed And Breakfast Welcome To The Lago Vista!

Lago Vista is a wonderful Oklahoma Bed and Breakfast a mountainside overlooking beautiful Broken Bow Lake and surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Each bed and breakfast in oklahoma boasts a spectacular view of the water. You will have a hard time deciding if you want to be in your plush surroundings or outside on your balcony to enjoy the fabulous view.

When you first arrive, you’ll be struck by the Tuscan appearance, which is very different from all the log cabins in the surrounding area. Just inside the front doors of Lago Vista, you are surrounded by antiques, which you will barely notice because the view of the Broken Bow lake out the back window will take your breath away! And it only gets better.

Some Facts About France

french-riviera-mentonFrance landscape ranges from high mountains plateaux, lush farmlands, traditional villages to modern cities. It’s a country of a variety of climates as well. Very hot and sunny in the south to much cooler and rainy in the north. Even though the country of size of France has nothing to compare with the size of the untied States, the difference in temperature between the north and the south is about the same as New York and Georgia.

France is a very modern country with high-tech advances such as the TGV (high speed train) born in 1983 and its home databank service Minitel, which is a kind of “phone book computer” which has been in French homes since the late 1980′s for free, just like your phone book.

What Is The Origin Of Valentine’s Day?

valentineThere are many different stories as for the origin of Valentine’s day.  Many of them  are pure fables,  but one that I have researched and found to be pretty consistent and to be true is this:

As many other actual events in our society, Valentine’s day has it’s origin in The Roman Empire, which at one time was the “center of the world”.  Claudius II was a cruel emperor who led many bloody wars, but was having a very hard time in getting soldiers to fight his wars. He believed that the reason for such an unwillingness for fighting for him was that soldiers didn’t want to go to war because of  their wives (not willing to leave them).  As a result Claudius ordered for all marriages and engagement to be canceled in Rome.
